I have combined a list of acts of kindness which I intend to try over the Lenten period.

  1. Pay at least one person a compliment every day.
  2. Write handwritten letters to people that have helped you in your life each day saying exactly what they have done to support and encourage you.
  3. Stop buying takeaways, giving the money you would spend to charity.
  4. Engage in conversation with a homeless person.
  5. Smile more.
  6. Praise someone at work for a job well done.
  7. Send someone who you know is going through a difficult time a card, flowers or letter.
  8. Thank those working in public services.
  9. Let someone into traffic who looks like they are in a rush.
  10. Let someone in front of you in the supermarket queue if they have a baby/small.restless children.
  11. Give up your seat on a bus/train.
  12. Offer to babysit for a friend.
  13. Offer to shop for an elderly person.
  14. Offer to mow your neighbour’s lawn
  15. Offer to volunteer in your child’s school
  16. Buy Fairtrade food, drink, cards.
  17. Go on a litter patrol.
  18. Pray with a new friend/new Christian
  19. Help at a local toddler group.
  20. Save up food for your local foodbank
  21. Choose a Gospel to read with a friend or small group, compare it to a different Gospel.
  22. Organise a cake sale for charity
  23. Support Comic Relief
  24. 40 days of decluttering for charity
  25. Stop moaning and complaining
  26. Spend time fasting
  27. Stop being impatient especially with technological problems
  28. List 5 good things about your life everyday
  29. Forgive a long-held grudge
  30. Volunteer at a nursing home
  31. Spend time exercising everyday
  32. Develop your relationship with God, keep a journal
  33. Make Hot Cross Buns, symbolising Jesus’ suffering on the cross
  34. Plant some flowers with your children, talking about new life
  35. Dress up in a costume, pack bags in a supermarket to raise money for a charity
  36. Start a giving jar in your home for small change
  37. Chat to people that look lonely
  38. Use less energy, turn your lights off and lower your heating
  39. Volunteer at a soup kitchen
  40. Make and send Easter cards to those that are lonely, recently bereaved, widowed, unwell. Make an Easter garden with your children.. Enjoy this time of kind acts and growing spiritually.
